Children of Civil Rights

Here is a picure of Ruby Bridges. She is just a little girl on the way to school.  She is being guarded by federal officers, because she is the first little African American girl to attend an all white elementary school in the American South.  She was hated by many people because they didn’t want her in their white schools.

Ruby Bridges was a little girl who made a difference in this great country of our.  You may not have to be concerned with where you go to school, but like Ruby Bridges you can make a difference wherever you can.  One good way is to first of all get the best education and grades you can.  That always helps when you want to make a big difference in the lives of those you love.  Oh, yes and remember, reading is the best way to learn and get knowledge.  Black History month is great, yes, but Black History is good everyday of the year.  Just pick up the book that was written about Ruby Bridges for starters.

Kids can be Patriots, too!

Hi guys.  This month we have celebrated the birthdays of President George Washington the first president of the United States -born February 22nd; and  President Abraham Lincoln – born February 12th.  He was the 16th president of our country.  President Washington was leader of the country during and right after the Revolutionary War  You can watch a little bit about the Revolutionary War by clicking the link above.   President Lincoln lead the country during another terrible war: The Civil War  Click this link to find out more about the Civil War.  Both of these presidents loved our country and did what they thought was right to help it out.  That made them patriots.

You and I, too, are patriots when we care and love this great country; and do the best that we can to help it and all of the people who live here to be happy here.  We can do that by first of all reading and learning about it in school, and then when you get to the right age, vote on the elections we have in this great country.  Hey, that’s a good way for patriots to begin.
